Hey Beauties!

The first post I wanted to share with you is my cleansing ritual. It is easy to just try to create a routine, but it is important to create a routine that works for you and your skin type. So let’s get started!

The first step to any beauty ritual is cleansing.  We all have our holy-grail cleanser and let’s not lie, we always like trying the newest cleanser to hit the market. If you’re like me your bathroom is probably filled with all sorts of cleansers, however, I always happen to reach for my most trusted.  I have relatively oily-acne prone skin and it took me a really long time to find the perfect combination for my skin. It was difficult to find a cleanser that could gently cleanse my face, without over-drying it. After years of trying many cleansers I finally found a regimen that works for me. Let me share my steps to cleansing correctly.

First, I like to wash my face with a gentle cleanser.  My favorite is Clinique’s Mild Cleanser. Clinique has three types of Liquid Facial Soap, extra mild, mild, and for oily skin. I chose the mild cleanser which cleanses my skin without over-drying it. I also like that it is clear of any dyes and it creates a nice lather.

Step 3: SPF 30+ Moisturizer

Step 3: SPF 30+ Moisturizer

My second step to cleansing is treating my acne. I love the Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser. After removing all the dirt and pollution off my face with Clinique’s Mild Facial Soap I follow it with the Clean and Clear Acne Control cleanser. I apply a small amount and massage it into my face for at least 30 seconds. The most important thing is to allow the product to penetrate your skin for 30 seconds or more. The active ingredient is Benzoyl Peroxide 10% which is an acne fighting ingredient. Benzoyl Peroxide reduces the amount of acne causing bacteria, however it can cause your skin to dry and peel. If it becomes too strong you can use it every other day and don’t forget to use a good moisturizer. Finally, follow with a good sunblock of SPF 30 or higher when using this product, as it may cause your skin to become more sensitive to the sun. You may also use a moisturizer that contains SPF 30+ to protect your skin.
